Caravan Decking Installers

Supply-and-fit uPVC and composite decking for your pitch, from installers who already work on parks near yours and know what the park office will sign off. Most decks cost £2,300 to £5,950 fitted; wrap-arounds run higher.

Before anyone measures up

Three things your park will ask about

  1. 01

    Written approval from the park

Your pitch agreement will say that decking needs the park owner's consent. Most parks have a one-page decking specification: materials, colours, maximum height and where the deck may go. Get the yes in writing before anyone orders boards.

  2. 02

    Fire-rated materials

Parks are licensed with fire safety conditions, so many only allow uPVC or composite boards and rails with a Class 1 or equivalent fire rating. Timber decks are still allowed on some parks, but fewer each year.

  3. 03

The gap to the next caravan

Site licences keep caravans a set distance apart, normally 6 metres, so fire cannot jump between them. An open deck may only project into that gap if 4.5 metres stays clear to the neighbour, and an enclosed veranda may not at all. Front and door-side decks are usually fine; the side facing a neighbour usually is not.

Pick a layout

Nearly every caravan deck is one of three shapes. Prices are typical supply-and-fit ranges for uPVC with a balustrade, gate and steps.

uPVC, composite or timber

Fitted prices per square metre include the subframe, a standard spindle balustrade and the labour. Steps, gates, glass panels and skirting are the usual extras.

The material decision is often made for you: ask the park what it allows before you compare prices.

We are a free matching service, not the firm doing the work. How matching works.

  1. Tell us about the pitch

The park postcode, the layout you have in mind, a rough size and when you want it fitted. Three short steps, two minutes.

  2. We find an installer who works on parks near yours

An independent firm that already fits decking on holiday parks in your area and knows the local park offices. We tell you who they are before anyone contacts you.

  3. Site visit and park check

They measure the pitch, check the ground and confirm what your park allows on materials, colours, height and separation.

  4. Drawing and fixed price

A scaled plan with sizes, colours, steps and gates, and a fixed supply-and-fit price. Compare it with the ranges on this site.

  5. Fitted in one to three days

A levelled frame on adjustable feet, no digging, boards, rails, steps and gates. Old decking taken away if agreed.

Where the installers work

Caravan decking installers tend to be based near the big park clusters and travel between them. Tell us the park and we will match you with a firm that already covers it.

Caravan decking questions

How much does caravan decking cost?

Fitted uPVC decking typically costs £200 to £350 per square metre including the frame, balustrade and fitting. A 24 x 6 ft side deck is usually £3,200 to £5,950; a wrap-around on a 36 ft caravan £5,450 to £10,000. Most jobs land between £2,300 to £5,950, and a wrap-around with glass runs higher. Use the caravan decking prices page to price your own layout.

Why is caravan decking so expensive compared with garden decking?

Three reasons. The materials are park-grade uPVC or composite with a fire rating, not softwood. The deck is built on a levelled steel or aluminium frame on adjustable feet rather than posts in the ground. And almost every deck includes a full balustrade, gate and steps, which a garden deck often does without.

Do I need permission to put decking on a static caravan?

Yes, from the park owner, in writing. Your pitch licence will require it, and most parks publish a decking specification. Planning permission from the council is not normally needed on a licensed holiday park, because the site licence covers it. Our park rules guide goes through the detail.

What is the 4 year rule, and the 10 year rule, for caravans?

They are about the caravan, not the decking. Many parks set a maximum age for caravans on their pitches, often 10 to 20 years, after which the van must be upgraded or leave. Some parks also give new vans a period, often around 4 years, before an upgrade is first discussed. Check your own pitch agreement: the numbers vary by park and are not set in law.

Is there a cheaper alternative to decking?

A paved patio area on the pitch (if the park allows it), a small landing and steps at the door, or a pre-owned deck refurbished and re-fitted for £800 to £3,500. Self-build uPVC kits cost £950 to £4,700 without fitting, but check that your park allows owner-fitted decking first.

Can I fit caravan decking myself?

On some parks, yes, if the materials meet the park specification and the deck is signed off afterwards. Many parks insist on an approved installer, and most insurers prefer one. Kits are sold with plans; the hard parts are levelling the frame to the door threshold on a sloping pitch and getting the balustrade right.

uPVC or composite caravan decking?

Both are low maintenance and both can be fire rated. uPVC is lighter, cheaper to move and what most park installers carry; composite feels more solid and looks more like wood. Prices overlap. See uPVC caravan decking for the detail.

How long does caravan decking last?

uPVC and composite boards typically carry 10 to 20 year warranties and decks fitted in the 2000s are still in use. Galvanised and aluminium frames last longer than the boards. Timber decks on a damp pitch often need boards replacing within 8 to 12 years.
